You probably assumed this humble spirit would be up in arms over President Trump barring three left-leaning news outlets from the White House, but I’m finding it hard to get worked up about. Americans have a constitutional right to a free press, but when it comes to Trump’s White House press corps, it’s mostly just the blather of a sick old man—nothing but garbage in, garbage out. President Trump just spews lies and self-serving propaganda, while most of the news that matters—the truth Trump is always trying to hide—is inevitably gathered from investigative reporting from sources other than Trump and his White House. We all know that what Trump likes to call the “fake news” is actually the real news. So to heck with him!
Here are Some Meaningful Truths that Trump Won’t Share with the White House Press Corps:
He is the most corrupt president in American history: How much longer will MAGA voters turn a blind eye while Trump and his troop of oligarchs wallow in obscene wealth and inequality not seen since the 19th century robber barons? The man has turned the presidency into one big grift. Trump doesn’t care about the American people; to him, we’re just an annoying distraction from his plundering. He meets with dictators, makes “deals,” takes no responsibility for his failures and tells lie after lie. Trump builds monuments to himself and aspires to being one of the great men of history, but he has no concept of what it’s like to choose between food, medicine and electricity—and couldn’t care less.
America is being destroyed by inequality and the “K-shaped” economy: Things may be great for Trump’s billionaire cronies, but it’s lousy for most Americans and getting worse by the day. Trump can yell “communists” and “radical left scum” all day long, but the “K-shaped” economy is making it impossible for many Americans to maintain a middle-class lifestyle. Trump mocks “affordability” as though people stuck on the bottom half of the “K” aren’t entitled to the American dream. And remember, the more desperate people become, the more likely they are to submit to an autocrat.
Trump is so Afraid of Investigation and Impeachment that He’ll do Anything to Hold onto Power and Keep His Grift Machine Going.
He has built a dangerous army of MAGA foot soldiers: Trump’s “SAVE America Act” and Republican gerrymandering are all about disenfranchising minority voters, the dreaded “other” the MAGA base hates. Let’s face it, for MAGAs, deportations are just an excuse to hunt down and hurt unarmed nonwhite people. MAGAs aren’t worried about “the worst of the worst” but displacement by the “other.” The money allotted to expand ICE in Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” was meant to create a paramilitary force of MAGA loyalists who answer to Trump’s beck and call. If we’re not careful, the next mob that invades the U.S. Capitol won’t be a motley hodgepodge of vigilante groups but a well-organized armed force.
Above all, Trump is a dangerously stupid man, a fraud and a loser: Trump says he listens to his “gut” when it comes to his war with Iran—a disaster that may yet break the country and destroy the international economy. But remember, that same gut led him to a lifetime of horrendous mistakes, including six bankruptcies. Thanks to “The Apprentice” he managed to convince the American public he was a successful businessman. But he’s no businessman. And where did he get the crazy idea that he’s a “high IQ individual”? He doesn’t know what he’s doing when it comes to interest rates, tariffs, international trade or just about anything else. Is the man ever right about anything? He needs Roy Cohn to come back from the dead and coach him 24/7.
Trump likes to say, “unlike anything anyone has ever seen before!” But it’s Trump himself who’s unlike anything anyone has seen before—and God willing, won’t see again!
